Dan Udoutch is the Chief Executive Officer of Alpine Data. Dan is a widely respected industry professional with over 25 years of experience in building successful Sales & Marketing organizations as well as leading 3 prior companies in the CEO position. Prior to joining Alpine, Dan served as the CEO of Code Green Networks, a market leader in data loss prevention software. Under Dan’s leadership, Code Green established key OEM partnerships, as well as significant leadership in the healthcare vertical. In the past, Dan has held key Sales and Marketing positions at Appstream, Commerce One, Netscape, and Navigation Technologies.
Steven Hillion has been leading large engineering and analytics projects for fifteen years. Before joining Alpine Data, he founded the analytics group at Greenplum, leading a team of data scientists and also designing and developing new open-source and enterprise analytics software. Before that, he was Vice President of Engineering at M-Factor, Inc. (acquired by DemandTec) where he built analytical applications that became a global standard for demand modeling. Earlier, at Kana Communications, Steven led the engineering group during the two largest releases of its flagship product. At Scopus Technology (later Siebel Systems) he co-founded development groups for finance, telecom and other verticals. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and was a King Charles I Scholar at Oxford University.

Lawrence Spracklen leads engineering at Alpine. He is tasked with the continued development Alpine’s advanced analytics platform. He brings to Alpine a diverse range of experiences, spanning processor design and research, distributed systems experience, software optimization and multi-thread scalability, security, and hardware accelerator development.Prior to joining Alpine, Lawrence worked at Ayasdi as both VP of Engineering and Chief Architect. Before this, Lawrence spent over a decade working at Sun Microsystems, Nvidia and VMware, where he led teams focused on the intersection of hardware architecture and software performance and scalability.Lawrence holds a Ph.D. in Electronic engineering from the University of Aberdeen, a B.Sc. in Computational Physics from the University of York and has been issued over 30 US patents.
Josh Lewis has ten years of experience across academia and industry in machine learning, data analysis, and user experience. Prior to joining Alpine, Josh lead the frontend engineering team at Ayasdi where he built apps and APIs for the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and finance verticals, as well as Ayasdi’s domain-general data analysis and visualization software. Before joining Ayasdi, Josh was a PhD student and postdoc at the UC San Diego Cognitive Science Department where he investigated the role of human perception and insight in the data analysis process. He also developed novel software for applying unsupervised machine learning algorithms called Divvy, a project that was supported by a multi-year NSF grant. Josh graduated from Pomona College with majors in Cognitive Science and Philosophy.
Tim Guleri joined Sierra Ventures firm in 2001 and focuses on investments in the consumer (mobile Internet), enterprise software (SaaS), infrastructure software (security, deployment, management), and open source. Prior to joining the firm, he built two software infrastructure companies. Tim served as the Vice Chairman and the Executive Vice President of Business Development at Epiphany. He co-founded Octane Software and served as the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman from 1997 to 2000. Tim served as a Vice President of Technical Field Operations and Product Marketing at Scopus Technology from 1992 to 1997, heading the Sales and Marketing functions. He began his career as an Executive in Information Technology at LSI Logic between 1989 and 1992.
Frank Lee is a Vice President at UMC Capital. He joined the firm in 2006 and focuses on investments in Big Data, Cloud, mobile, communications and semiconductors industries. Before joining UMC Capital, He worked at Vertex Management Inc, a Singapore based venture capital company, and was responsible for investments in communications, wireless and semiconductors industries. Prior to Vertex Management Inc, He was a management consultant at AT Kearney.
Mr. Luis Llovera is a Managing Director of Robert Bosch LLC. He joined in 2008 and advises Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH regarding its investment activities in the U.S.A.
Prior to Bosch, Mr. Llovera was an Investment Partner of Communications Fund at Siemens Venture Capital for over six years, where he directed investment activities in the optical communications market, access technologies and semiconductors. During his 24 years career with Siemens, Mr. Llovera held a variety of roles in R&D, as well as marketing, business development and sales support. He served as Executive at Siemens Communications, Inc. Before joining the Siemens Venture Capital team.
Robert Kibble is a Managing Partner at Mission Ventures in San Diego. He co-founded the firm and has over 30 years of venture capital investing experience. Previously, he served for 13 years as a co-founder of Paragon Venture Partners, another early-stage technology-focused venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. Prior to that, Mr. Kibble was a Vice President at Citicorp Venture Capital and also served as a Vice President of Citicorp’s Merchant Banking Group both in Malaysia and Brazil. Mr. Kibble has an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor’s Degree, with honors, in Natural Sciences from Oxford University.
Joe Otto is the Chairman of the Board of Alpine Data. In his role, Mr. Otto is responsible for Alpine’s strategic partnerships and growth initiatives. Prior to joining Alpine, Joe served for five years as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Services for Greenplum, where he established Greenplum’s commercial footprint and developed it into a global business. Joe’s 30 year technology career includes significant leadership roles at Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, and EMC, as well as executive leadership positions in early stage startups in Artificial Intelligence, Networking and CRM. Throughout his career Joe has developed high performance sales and marketing teams, driving innovation to deliver business transformation and extreme growth. Joe is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Diego Klabjan is Founding Director of the Master of Science in Analytics program at Northwestern University, where he is an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences since 2007.
Prior to that, he was at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, after obtaining his doctorate from the Milton School of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1999. Professor Klabjan has led projects with large companies such as FedEx Express, GM, and United Continental, and he is also the CEO and founder of Opex Analytics LLC.
Jonathan brings nearly 20 years of experience in advancing analytics for leading data-driven companies, including Amazon.com, T-Mobile, Microsoft, and Expedia. He has an M.S. in Statistics from Oregon State University and a B.A. in Mathematics from St. Olaf College. Having successfully applied analytics to identify business opportunities in database marketing and website optimization, Jonathan will be helping to drive the strategic direction of Alpine’s product suite, and ensuring it meets the needs of analytic practitioners across industries.
